Darren taped appearances for CD:UK and Re:Covered yesterday in the UK and congratulations to the lucky fans who got to go see it. At Re:Covered Darren performed 'Sexual Healing' and was interviewed by Dermot O'Leary and then did 'Strange Relationship' and he came back a bit later and did a fantastic rendition of Elvis Presley's 'I Can't Help Falling In Love With You' - that one was just with the keyboard player. Re:Covered airs on BBC Choice. Keep an eye out the first week of July for his appearance. His rendition of Elvis' song will also be shown on their last show of the season - an Elvis special. CD:UK airs Saturdays at 11:30 am on CITV.

The official word on the connected technology
The connected portion of Spin was intended to provide 3 Stream Only tracks to fans who bought the album. These songs were rare, unreleased and intended to be a way of thanking those who bought the album. They were to be available to stream for the duration of the album promotion only. One song "Lift Me Up" was unlocked when the album was released, with the intention of unlocking the subsequent songs each time a single was released worldwide.

However, since unofficial MP3 versions of some of those songs are being circulated on the Internet, we have chosen to make different material available to fans. A new song, "Where You Want To Be," will be available in streaming audio when "Strange Relationship" gets its worldwide commercial release later this year. We plan to make another track available when a third single is released worldwide from Hayes' "Spin" album.

Darren was in Milan, Italy to do an interview with Viva Italy and Flo sent in this exciting account of it:

I'm Flo from Italy. I'd like to let you know how wonderful the last two days have been for 7 Italian fans. We found out that Darren would make an interview for Viva Italy, and we went there to wait for him. He arrived, said to us "hi!" and took a picture made from our team leader Ema. Then he went to make the interview. After 15 minutes he came out and asked us to make a photo for his website! Then he made photos with every one of us, he signed autographs, he spoke with us......after that he went away, and we waited for him outside his hotel, but we didn't see him.The following day we waited again outside the hotel; we called to Troy, he came down and took the gift we bought for darren....he's great!!! Then we saw them going out for lunch; Darren recognized us and he made a sign like "wait there!"....we did and an hour later he came back and he stopped with us for more pictures and autographs. HE IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!! So sweet, so kind, so gentle, so funny, SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!! He told us he'll come back to Italy about in October for a concert...and we're just waiting!

A story in the Melbourne "Herald Sun" newspaper that Sony Music had dropped Darren Hayes from the company's "priority list" has been sharply denied by the company. It caused quite a furor, with two official denials. Columbia US's New York-based president Will Botwin stated, "(Darren) is now, and will continue to be a major priority to the label, both in North America and abroad". Australian CEO and chairman Denis Handlin added in a separate communique "Darren Hayes is a major priority artist for Sony Music world-wide. In fact, at a major international management conference taking place in the UK (this) week, Darren Hayes will feature strongly on a priority list amongst plans for all Sony Music's world-wide priority acts." Handlin reckons the company is working at selling a million copies of the Hayes album. However the letter we want to see is the one sent out by Hayes' amiable manager John Woodruff. A story hit Australian papers today about Columbia Records dropping Darren from 'high priority' status in North America. You can read the story at the Herald Sun's website. Word from Columbia/Sony was that this is totally untrue, and they issued a pretty strong statement which is posted on DarrenHayes.com:

We are both angry and disappointed about the false rumor that is circulating regarding Darren Hayes and Columbia Records. Although Savage Garden had two hits- Truly Madly Deeply and I Knew I Loved You-they had gone on "hiatus" after a 2000-'01 tour."

On the chart portion of Top 5 @ 5 (it's a requests and votes-only chart combined) they do little skits, or pretend to be famous people, or spoof music videos by having a guy named Adrian interact in them. Today they spoofed the Strange Relationship video...and it was majorly funny. First, during the part where all the violins and cellos walk by (end of 1st chorus), Adrian walks in with a drum kit. Then when Darren and the four backup people are walking, Adrian's walking too, but he's in a hurry because it looks like Darren's gonna crash into him.When Darren takes his jacket off, Adrian shows up offering him a pink towel. Then when Darren is singing all alone (the last "Do you love me?" part) Adrian shows up with a broom to sweep the floor. Then the lights go out and Adrian's like, "Hey, who turned the lights out? Darren? Darren, where are you mate? Darren? DARREN?!?!?" Lastly...when they scroll the credits, (this being the end of the SR vid before Darren goes through the door) they show a giant yellow arrow that points out a moving spotlight.

Darren's going to be in Mexico city in a TV program on Monday: Linea Directa (in the video channel Telehit). I saw a commercial saying that he'd be there at 5:30 (Mexcio city's time). Fans could send a question for him by the e-mail. The ones who sent the best questions could be live in the studio with him! Live phone calls can also be made!

Thanks Emily for sharing her experience at the 92proFM Birthday Bash on May 31st:

I was just writing to let the group know how great Darren was last night at the 92 ProFM Birthday Bash in Rhode Island! Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, he was first. The rest of the show lost a little sparkle after him, but anyway... the band sounded great, Darren looked perfect. He sang 7 songs. In order, Insatiable, Dirty (slightly edited for the much younger, Aaron Carter crowd), Strange Relationship (possibly next single, then?), I Want You, Good Enough, and a mix of I Knew I Loved You and Truly Madly Deeply. It was unbelievable!!
